Hi Are you going to transition to 2007 or 2010? Or just put exchange 2003 on a new server with warranty? If you just want to replace it, install the new server and install exchange onto it, configure it like the server that should be replaced Move some test mailboxes, verify, test, move the prod mailboxesJonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

What is the role this server has, like mailbox server or FE server ?. If this is mailbox sevrer then you can move mailbox's to other server and then remove it. Later you can build same name into new H/W. I would not recommend you to remove it and restore from backup also avoide /DisasterRecovery swicth You must read this ! If you lose the requirement to retain the same server name, then the best way is to swing it to a new machine. Zero downtime, zero risk to the data. http://www.amset.info/exchange/migration.asp Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
