Reseed with one copy exchange 2013??

I want to reseed an exchange database as the Content index state is FailedAndSuspended, as searches in OWA are not available.

So I run: Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy "Mailbox Database 1434301284" -CatalogOnly

But then I get the error: This task is supported only for databases that have more than one copy.

How can I fix this issue?

Thanks,
Kris

Stop the Indexing Service -> delete the catalog index folder -> Start the Indexing

Seeding requires a source copy to get the data from. In this case, where there is only one copy, there's no source to get the data from somewhere. If this was the mailbox database all of the mail data would be lost. But since this is the Content Index data, it could be recreated. What Rakjumar suggested will kick off a full recrawl of the database and the CI data should get recreated.

Sorry but what is the service called? Is it Microsoft Exchange Search?

Also what is the folder location for the catalogue?

Thanks,

Kris

Yes.

Catalog will be in the same location as your mailbox database.

Sorry... just a few more questions:

Looking in the mailbox database folder... What is the folder name / extensions that I have to delete (is it the entire EF667BEA-DDB8-4FEA-A15B-4F46AD27904812.1.Single folder)?

Do I have to take the mailbox offline before doing this?

Does it matter if I have circular logging enabled?

Thanks again,

Kris

Yes that that folder to be deleted

1. Stop the Microsoft Exchange Search Server

2. Delete the folder, I represent a figure which shows a folder...

3. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Search service

You don't have to dismount the database until you are prompted with the warning that the file is in use etc.

No relation with Circular Logging, so if circular logging enable or disable or disabled.. you can do the above steps
