Does any one know what are the ramifications to my mobil devices and OWA syncd' users will be when I reset default virtual directories?

Why do you need to reset them?

I am having issues with my mobile clients syncing calendar appointments via mobil devices. Sometimes they do not sync and other times appointment updates to not show up. But their Outlook client is always correct. But of course there is no guarantee.

You may want to call Microsoft support, though I believe mainstream support for Exchange 2003 has expired.
