Restore EDB to a new Exchange Server?
Hi: I had an Exchange 2007 server where the database was corrupt beyond normal repair, and the server needed to be rebuilt. I since rebulit a brand new exchange server, brand new EDB file and created all new mailboxes to get the users up and running as soon as posisble I purchased a EDB recovery software and it seems to be able to repair the EDB file so i can either repair the file for mounting, or export mailboxes to PST's. Whereas there is over 60GIG of eMail data, this is going to take over a month. the vendor of the software is saying that I can't use the "recovery storage group" to import the mailboxes because its a different exchange server?? Is there any easier way of getting these mailboxes to the new exchange server other than exporting and importing PSTS? Any advice is appreciated!!

Hello Nik,If you successfully repair the database and the database is logically OK then Yes you can mount that database to the new exchange server in the same organization and you have to reconnect the mailboxes.Database Portabilityhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123954(EXCHG.80).aspxHow to Restore a Mailbox Database to a New Server with Database Portabilityhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998340(EXCHG.80).aspx Moving an Exchange Server 2007 Database between Mailbox Servershttp://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Moving-Exchange-Server-2007-database-Mailbox-servers.htmlArun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3
