Restore Public Folder contents
Hi We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and Exchange 2007 SP1 in mixed mode. Our Public Folders are replicated across both platforms. Unfortunately, it seems that some contacts were deleted from one of the PF's over the weekend. All our Exchange servers are backed up - does anyone know the best way to restore PF's? Secondly, is there any way I can find out who deleted these contacts? Where could I check? Many thanks in advance.

You can use the steps in the following article to recover deleted data. How to recover deleted public folders or items that are deleted from public folders by using the PFDAVAdmin tool in Exchange 2000 Server or in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924044 Once this is recovered on exchange 2003, add the replicas , replicate the PFs and then remove the replicas once all is done.Raj

To audit the public folder deletion is only possible for exchange 2003, but not in exchange 2007. Please see KB 891968James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Thanks...just two questions based on this:i) Is there no way to do this if the PF is based on an Exchange 2007 server at all?ii) On our Exchange 2003 server hosting the PF, the store version is higher than the hotfix mentioned in the KB. Providing Diagnostic Logging is set to Medium, does this mean we are auditing PF deletions? Thanks again.

i) Is there no way to do this if the PF is based on an Exchange 2007 server at all? Per my knowledge, no ii) On our Exchange 2003 server hosting the PF, the store version is higher than the hotfix mentioned in the KB. Providing Diagnostic Logging is set to Medium, does this mean we are auditing PF deletions? Yes, it audits the PF deletion. Since you are SP2, please raise the logging level and monitor the event 9682James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
