Restore certain users mailbox
Out system crash and I was able to recover the majority of the users e-mails from their harddrive but I have a few users I can not save from the harddrive. I have a backup of the priv1.edb store and would just like to restore just certain users. Is it possible to restore just certain users from the whole backup or can I just pick certain users? I am using Back up exec 2010. Thanks PSU

If you back up individual mailboxes (a BackupExec feature), yes. Otherwise, no. What you should do, in my opinion, is restore the database to a recovery storage group and then restore the items into their current mailboxes. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hi, Since you did backup your Exchange server, you can also use Setup /disasterrecovery to recover your Exchange. Backup exec states that you can do mailbox and item level recoveries however, they neglect to tell you upfront that you can only do that IF you run a special Database/Mailbox level backup. So at this point your choices are; Restore the EDB and associated files, (Logs etc) to an alternate location OR to a Recovery Storage group. Then you can use RSG to recover the desired mailboxes Alternately you can utilize a third party tool like Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp that can open, browse, search and extract/export or recover mailbox, folder and item level information from Exchange EDB's (Logs, STM etc). BTW: If you are able to pull the EDB, Logs etc from the crashed system that will get you your most up to date and complete information, i.e. no need to go back to tape unless the original hard drives are completely trashed.
