Restoring AD users and their Exchange 2007 mailbox
I deleted a couple AD users from our Windows 2003 domain controller , which then propagated over to our Exchange 2007 server. The mailboxes are still part of the mail database. I used the MS AdRestore program to retore the users on our domain controller, but I have not seen the users come back in the Exchange 2007 server, yet. Is there something I need to do to get them in the Exchange address book again? Is there something I can do to make it happen now? Then will Exchange automatically sync the mailbox with the restored user? Argh!! Please help! Thanks! Randy

You have to reconnect their mailboxes to the AD accounts:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201701.aspx How to Connect a Mailbox http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232039.aspx Understanding Disconnected Mailboxes

Which I have tried to do, see below: I entered: connect-mailbox -database MAIL02B\First Storage Group -identity b152b928-bb81-413a-a58e-f5a842abd79a -user "GRAND" and I get this error message: Connect-Mailbox : A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'Storage'. At line:1 char:16 + connect-mailbox <<<< -database MAIL02B\First Storage Group -identity b152b92 8-bb81-413a-a58e-f5a842abd79a -user "GRAND" So then I thought, maybe I need quotes around the database name, so I entered: connect-mailbox -database "MAIL02B\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" -identity b152b928-bb81-413a-a58e-f5a842abd79a -user "GRAND" and I get this error message: WARNING: An unexpected error has occurred and debug information is being generated: Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation. Connect-Mailbox : Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation. At line:1 char:16 + connect-mailbox <<<< -database "MAIL02B\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database " -identity b152b928-bb81-413a-a58e-f5a842abd79a -user "GRAND" I'm not sure what to try now.... Thanks, again! Randy

You could reconnect via the EMC gui or if using Powershell, look at the examples in the connect-mailbox help:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997878.aspxConnect-Mailbox -Database "Mailbox Database" -Identity "John Peoples". You dont need to specify "User" if you use the -identity parameter.

When I do the get-mailboxstatistics, none of the users that i deleted from AD show that their mailbox is disconnected. The mailboxes also do not show up in the EMC under disconnected mailboxes. Randy

Try running clean-mailboxdatabase against the store:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124076.aspx

Ok, so that makes all the deleted mailboxes show up in the Disconnected Mailboxes list. When I try to connect the database it tells me: Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation.

Via EMC or Powershell? If its not working with powershell, try via EMC using the link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201701.aspx

Same error message using the EMC or the Shell. "Read only MultiValuedProperty does not support this operation."

Using adsiedit.msc, browse to that user account in AD, check the value for the attribute "msExchVersion". Does it have any value? Compare with accounts that are already mailbox-enabled, it should be 4535486012416 for Exchange 2007. If not, add that value to that attrib and try again ( waiting a bit for replication in a multi-domain environment).

Thank you, Andy!!! After I changed the msExchVersion value, I was able to connect the databases! And all their mail and calendar info has been restored!! Thanks, again - for all your help! Randy
