Restrict rights on mailboxes
Hello, I have Exchange 2003 and I want to know how can I do 2 thinks: 1. monitor specific access into mailboxes - I already activate maximum log into mailboxes and I can see standard information about the access but Microsoft is limitate to this, I can't see what resource was accessed (calendar, inbox or something else) 2 how to restrict administrators rights to a mailbox - I want to have the administrators blocked to read emails from Inbox - able just to access Calendar Thank you in advance

This is not possible, I believe. Because mailboxes this is object and Exchange work with it how with object. Calendar and Inbox this is subfolder of this object and they legacy right from mother object.System Manager does not give opportunities on changes subfolders.

You cannot assign a split based permissions for administartors to access mailboxes of other users, if theres a permission he can access all the folders

You can audit who has logged on to mailbox. But exchange donot have any native tool or auditing level to tell which folder was accessed by user. You can opt for any third party tool such as http://www.stealthbits.com/stealthaudit-for-exchange/stealthaudit-for-exchange.html Exchange Auditing http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Auditing-Mailbox-Access-Exchange-System-Manager-Event-Viewer.html http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Importance-Auditing-Exchange-2003-Servers.html By default no admin can access other users mailbox. Unless and until you have specifically added them to ORG level and granted them send and recv as rights. Please review the below article and restrict the same http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823018 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
