Restricted Distribution Group used as delegate
We have a distribution group that only a small group of user's can send to. However, someone inadvertently made this group a delegate in Outlook. That person is not on the list of those who can send to the group. However, messages
sent to that user are also being sent to the delegate, which means every member of the group receive the emails. In short, using the restricted group as a delegate effectively overcame the restriction on who can send to that group.
We are Exchange 2007, SP1, RU9. Anyone ever see this?

Hi,
Its sound a bit odd, is it happening with each user which is putting this groups a delegate & restriction is given from Exchange(accept mail for "X" user only). Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Any update?
I do a test which is based on your description, but everything goes well.
First, I created two distribution groups and four users, configured a transport rule that distribution group1 can only receive message sent from distribution grup2,
and the distribution group1 includes user1, user2 is a member of distribution group2.
And then, user2 sent a message to distribution group1, user1 can receive the message normally.
Then, user3 sent a message to distribution group1, and user1 cannot receive the message as I designed.
Next, I delegate the distribution group1 permission on user3.
At last, user4 sent a message to the user3, and the user1 in distribution group1 have not received the message.
Please feel free to let me know if I miss anything.
I would like to know which permission did the user delegate to the distribution group? How do you implement the users in only small group can send email to the distribution
group, a transport rule or anything?
I am glad to have a further discussion with you.
Best regards,
Serena
