Resurrected SharePoint alerts on server reboot
Over the course of the last couple of months we have had to reboot our SarePoint servers a couple of times for maintenance issues. Each timethis happened one of our users got emailed every single SharePoint alert they ever got all over again. I have not had this problem, nor have I heard of anyone else in the organization having this problem. I asked this question in the SharePoint forumns and got no response. So I thought that I would ask you Exchange guys and see if any of you have see thing problem and how it was resolved.

Agree with Elvis... this is the share point issue... and sharepoint experts can handle this pretty quick.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Sorry Elvis and Arun, your replies were not the answer. It is a sharepoint issue you were right, but it has to do with the fact that this content was restored to a different environment and the server was rebooted, which when the material was crawled again which saw the alerts and couldn't match them up to anything that it saw as having been already sent. So it sent all the alerts again. This can be avoided by resetting the crawled content. So that is why it happened and what to do to avoid it in the future. I apologize for postng it in the wrong area of the forums.
