Reverting back from Office 2007 to 2003 with Server 2003 with exchange
Hi
Having recently removed Office 2007 from a machine and putting Office 2003 back on.I had complaints that all a user could do on that machine in Outlook was send and receive.
I couldn't print, add tasks, alter calendars etc or alter the Account properties.
I kept getting error messages of
When trying to print etc The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook
When I first tried to send and receive error 0x80004005
When trying to change email account settings There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted
What i had to do to correct this was found using information from these links:

FirstI created a new profile
Then I deleted the Office 2007 in the registry (Something not done during the uninstall process)
Search in the registry for the folder Microsoft\Office\12.0
After that I deleted the Mapisvc.inf files so that outlook will recreate its settings
And finally I removed the MAPI32.DLL file.
OnceI did all thisI opened Outlook and tried to print an item (that being what I originally received a complaint about) and Outlook was running as it should.
Note: make sure you point Outlook to the new profile
Hope this helps people, as this caused quite a problem for me.
