Role of Edge Transpot role
I have Exchange 2007 installed on my DC which have Windows 2003 OS.This DC have the HUB Transport,CAS Server ,Mailbox Server roles installed. Now I have instaled Edge Transoprt Role on another Windows 2003 machine. All of the machines are on same subnet and using same classs of IP address. I am doing this on my test machine. Is it necessasry to have a Edge Transport server if I am using exchange only for internal email purpose? Even if it is not necessasry to have it for internal purpose can I install it and configure to use it for email? How can I check that my mails are passing through Edge Transport server or not ? Hi, Edge transport server is mainly act a gateway for internet mail & generally installed in different segment & is not in domain, kindly explain what basically is required since it only used for mail scanning & filtering.
