Room finder not working

Hi,

I am running exchange 2013 CU7 with outlook 2013. Everything is up to date. Recently we noticed that the room finder could not show anything. So I searched for solutions on the web. I ended up creating a 3 room lists and population them with our rooms.

I did some testing with 2 user accounts on different environment. here are the results

In OWA : the 2 user accounts are able to see the room list and the room finder works fine

On my computer running outlook : none of the user account see the room list and room finder always shows "None".

On a TSE server running outlook :one account sees the room list and room finder works. with the second account, I cant see the room list and room finder always shows "None"

On the exchange server, I've tried to update the offline address book, and then force the update on client side. On my computer I also tried to recreate my outlook profile. It didnt help.

I'm getting desperate, I dont know what else to try to get it to work with any user on any outlook.

any help appreciated

On more thing : I said earlier that one of two accounts had access to the room list on a TSE server. Well, that is not the case anymore. dont ask me why. Now the room picker only works in OWA, but for everyone !

According to your description, I understand that the Room Finder feature can work in OWA but there is no information in Outlook client. Since it works in OWA, it indicates that the Room List should be created correctly in Exchange server.

Please do the following points to narrow down the issue:

1. Check whether all users cant use Room Finders feature in Outlook.

2. Confirm whether the issue persists in Outlook Online mode.

3. Check whether the new created room list is listed in GAL in Outlook Cached mode.

David

It seems to me only client MAPI end issue since this works in OWA very well. Check the below:-

1- Try different version of outlook.

2- Try Online Mode of Outlook.

3- Check Application logs on Exchange server if anything strange there for MAPI clients.

4- Update address book and see any error occur.

1. Check whether all users cant use Room Finders feature in Outlook.

So far I couldn't find a single user that sees the room list in outlook

2. Confirm whether the issue persists in Outlook Online mode.

If the online mode consists in unchecking the "use cached exchanged mode", then yes, the issue persist in online mode. If the online mode is something else, please explain what it is.

3. Check whether the new created room list is listed in GAL in Outlook Cached mode.

yes, the room lists are listed (I actually created 3 of them)

4. Try different version of outlook.

We only have one version (2013). we've only been using exchange for 1 year

5. Try Online Mode of Outlook.

does not make any difference

6. Check Application logs on Exchange server if anything strange there for MAPI clients.

There way too much logs everywhere for me. Can you please point me where to look ?

7. Update address book and see any error occur.

It is already updated I think. As I said above, I see in the gal the newly created room lists. If there is an error, where can I see it ?

Hi,

Sorry for late reply.

Since it works in OWA, it indicates that the Room List are setup properly on  Exchange server side.

I think there maybe something wrong with your outlook.

I  suggest you can have a test on a all new computer.

regards,

David
