Routing back the internal mails from exchange to internet hosted domain
Hi Our company exchange server is not accessible publicly on the internet. The exchange is on a domain server named "xyz.local" It pops the messages from the hosting company which hosts our web and mail: "xyz.com". It relays messages through a smarthost that send the messages with our ISP. Users have in Active Directory a SMTP address of userX@xyz.com When user1 sends a message to user2 - it gets there immediately, without leaving the domain. All other messages use the smarthost and get delivered properly. My requirement is internal users need to see the internal mails also when they are outside the office through the webmail for example : http://mail.xyz.com How to meet that requirement? Thanks & Regards S.Swaminathan

1. Configure the OWA external URL to your liking (https://mail.xyz.com/owa) 2. Make the address accessable through firewall/reverse proxy. (TCP/443) 2.5 (Don't forget about external DNS resolution) 3. Preferably buy 3rd party SSL certificate and tie that to your external facing CAS (or reverse proxy). 4. Login ;-) More or less like that. What version of Exchange and do you plan to use a reverse proxy (like TMG) or just shoot a hole in the Firewall?Jesper Bernle | Microsoft Community Contributor 2011 Awardee
