Rules after a mailbox conversion
I have converted a Shared Mailbox to a Regular User Mailbox. But When the user is logged in to OWA they are not able to view/set any Inbox rules under the Organize E-Mail Options. If I go to the Exchange 2010 server that the mailbox resides, I can run New-InboxRule and can set a rule, and I can run Get-InboxRule and see that a rule was stored. Is there any way to restore the Inbox Rules function in OWA? Currently I am running Exchange 2010 SP2.

Hi

An Inbox Rule can be a client-side or a server-side rule. A server-side rule can be performed without any requirement from the local machine, for example: change the importance of a message; move the incoming message to a specific folder on the User Mailbox; delete a message and so on.  The general rule is that all the components must be on the server side.

A client-side rule requires processing from the Outlook client, an example of a client-side rule is move specific messages identified by the rule to a PST folder. This rule cannot be processed at the server-level because the server is not able to work with a PST file on that context.

So From OWA, it should be a client side rule.

I understand Client-side and Server-Side rules. What I am saying is that there isn't even the option to view the rules in OWA. If I create a regular mailbox on the Exchange server and login to OWA under that new account I can see the Inbox Rules under the Organize Email Options. But, If I convert a shared mailbox to a regular mailbox and login to OWA under the converted mailbox, I do not see an Inbox Rules option under Organize Email Options. How do I restore the Inbox Rules area of Organize Email Options.

Please go to your Exchange Server and run the command

 Get-CASMailbox "mailbox" | fl OWASignaturesEnabled

If it is disabled, please enable it.
