Generally speaking it's ok but I would recommend you do other things before you do that.
You might try:Reducingthe space used by the Windows logs (Application, System, etc)Move the pagefile to another diskDelete old user profiles
Good luck,

Thanks for the suggestions.
I am loosing anywhere from 70 to 100 mb per day. Looked at the trend micro logs to no avail.
Application logs were @ App 19 mb Security 128 mb System 54mb
I changed the properties to overwrite anything over 30 days
I deleted user profiles prior to posting.
Swapping paging file?

Is there a search to scan the entire C drive by size greater than ###mb?

Yikes, that's a lot of growth.
A really good app to figure out where all the space is going is spacemonger
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spacemonger.html
It's a free program, just a tiny exe, that will show you the disk as a picture. Should at the very least tell you what is eating up the space. I use it all the time.
It's server, right? Is it server class hardware?
If it is a server, what is its role, mail or file server (or both). I'm just trying to figure out what is eating up the space.
If it's a mail server running MS Exchange, you might have a bigger problem with growth like that. You going to break the store limits.
It's a file server with server class hardware, ie RAID, you could get more disks and grow the RAID.
I would really not recommend deleting those folders, it wouldn't buy you much more time, and might create you one serious problem.
As for being a new System Admin, welcome to the club!

Are your transaction logs stored on the "C" drive? When did you last perform a full backup?
You can confirm when the last full backup was peformed by opening the Exchange Management Console and drilling down to Server Configuration>Mailbox>[First] Storage Group>[Mailbox Database] and bringing up the properties. Note the "Last Full Backup" field.
With that much extra space every day it wouldnt surprise me if full backups are not getting performed, and therefore the transaction logs are not getting committed/cleaned up.

My last full backup was completed 11/14/2007 @ 04:51
The hardware is IBM X346 C drive is 29gb, with RAID of 516gb with 471 free.

Okay,
If this is an Exchange Server (Hopefully it is since this is an Exchange forum) there are only a few things that could take up that much space that quick.
1. Transaction logs. Since your last full backup was recent, this should not be it, but let's look where they are stored. Go into ESM(If this is Ex2003) and pull up the properties of the storage group(s). Look at the path of the Transaction Log. Is it on the C:\ Drive?
2. Your DBs are on your C:\ drive. Take a look at the location of your DBs for Exchange. In ESM, properties of your Mailbox Store(s). Database tab, path for DB and Streaming DB. Are they on C:\? If yes, Move them ASAP before you run out of space!
3. IIS Logs. Should be no where near as big as you are seeing, but, in the system32\logs folder. How large are the folders?
4. Quarintine. If you have an anti-virus product, is it capturing a lot of viruses and leaving them on the C:\ drive?
5. Temp Files. Is an anti-virus product creating temp files that are not being removed?
If it is not one of the above, you are really in a weird situation.

John nailed it, I got 18.6 GB in the system32\logfiles\SMTPSVC1 folder. I have txt files that date back to 11/17/2006.
What to do with them. Zip together, keeping them in the original location. Zip together moving them to the D drive.
Delete ones older than 6 months? The file sizes range from 19,123kb to 118,237kb larger onesare more recent.
the other folders are Cluster 421kb
Httperr 201 kb
Shutdown 0
W3svc1 91.8 mb
W3svc3 2.01mb

That's quite a bit of SMTP logs, and yes you can zip them and move them or delete them as needed.
Cheers,
Erik
