Perhas a dumb question, but is SBS 2008 an Exchange Server? Does it do everything Exchange does? Is Exchange included with SBS 2008? Am I able to monitor internet usage from all networked computers with the report section?

Hi, The official launch date for Windows Small Business Server 2008 is November 12th 2008. Two editions will be available, one is Premium Edition and the other is Standard. Too bad Exchange 2007 is the 'Vista' of Microsoft email, and sucks so bad. I'm keeping all my clients on SBS 2003 until Exchange 2007 is fixed or replaced with a better version. Exchange 2007, what a piece of ____. haha. Who's idea was it to require 108 char command strings to do some of the commands not available within the GUI? They must have thought DOS was cool and wanted to go backward to it. EVERYTHING should be able to be done in the GUI people. Line them up, take away their H1 visa and send them back to country of origin please.

Yes, it uses PowerShell for improved administration, more so than what you can do with Exchange 2003. Microsoft is going more command line for security purposes as well as giving an easier ability to adjust preferences instead of digging through a GUI with tabs, etc. This is actually something the Unix/Linux community has been doing for years and is something that is very popular. Managing by GUI is more inefficient, in my opinion, and I fully support and praise Microsoft for moving more towards a command line environment. If you ever work with Server Core, you'll need to either connect from a full on server for GUI, or work with command line only tools.
