I am responsible for setting up networked multi-function copiers on clients networks. These devices use SMTP to scan documents to email. I often run into network administrators who have deployed Exchange 2007 without knowing its differences from 2003. In 2003, I would configure the SMTP Virtual Server through the MMC to allow relay for the devices IP address. The device would be setup to the servers IP address or FQDN on port 25. The devices will connect to Exch 2007 on port 25, and successfully send the file, but the end reciever never recieves the scan. I understand with Exch 2007 it is recommended to use port 587 and use SMTP Authentication. Having little hands-on experiance with 2007, I am looking for some straight forward instructions to give the administrator to allow relay from these devices. Although I have found lots of information on these forums on how it all works, I have yet to find examples of how to enable these functions. Any help would be appreciated. Also, how can one enable and access the SMTP log files to troubleshoot these issues? Al P

Hi Al P,You need to create a receive connector on Exchange 2007 server with the IP address of your copier to relay off anonymously.Did you try as per below article?
