SMTP failure after upgrading to Exchange 2010
I have a HelpDesk ticket program that connects to the Exchange Server through an SMTP connection that worked when we were using Exchange 2003. We installed Exchange 2010 and decommissioned the Exchange 2003. I was at first seeing log messages of: "550 5.7.1 unable to relay", from the Perfect Tracker logs. I created a recieve connector between the 2 Servers, from Exchange 2010. Perfect Tracker points to the IP address of the Exchange Server and uses the same account that we use for our printers to authenticate for email. Now I am seeing: "550 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send as this sender" in the Perfect Tracker message log. What setting do I need to look for on the Exchange Server?

Configuring Exchange 2007 and 2010 to allow relay is somewhat more complicated than in Exchange 2003. Fellow MVP Daniel Petri has this description of the topic, and there are many more you can search for on the Internet. http://www.petri.co.il/authenticated-or-anonymous-smtp-relay-with-exchange-2007.htm -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
