SMTP reject first try?
Does anyone know if there is a way to set an SMTP receiver to reject on the first try that some sends an email? It is something that my ISP has started doing, and it cuts way back on the spam, I think they are using qmail server. Since most mail servers are setup to try a couple of times before giving up, it does not seem to cause to many troubles.
Thanks,
KenC

they are possibly using a concept called Greylisting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting). I wouldn't recommend using this method. it assumes that everyone who is going to send you email has a properly configured server and isn't a professional way of blocking spam. There are a lot ofother ramifications aswell.I'm surprised your ISP is doing this. who is your ISP?

The ISP is hooked up with my cable company they are called PTD (PenTelData) I did end up running into some problems with it. I had some people who tried to email me and couldn't because their servers were setup to try only once. I have not be able to find out why their server is setup like that, but I am guessing it has something else to do with junk email.
