SMTP to external email
Hi, We are using Exchange 2003. We have a lot of software and application that required admin group to receive any update and notification from system. We are not having problem to send notification to internal user. The problem happend when we tried to send notification to external email such as gmail etc. Any configuration need to done at exch level. Please help. Thank you.jaie

You should probably (according to your explanation) enable anonymous relaying for specific hosts. Option to configure in SMTP service: Open Exchange System Manager->Under your Exchange server Name open Protocols-> SMTP->Virtual SMTP Server Properties->Access Tab->Relay Restrictions.Regards, Konrad Sagala, MCT, MCSE+M, MCITP: Exchange 2007/2010

Thank for your reply, Specific host refer to any host that host the software and application? Does I need to enable SMTP at host that run the software/application? Any configiration need to be done at host level? Thank you.jaie

Specific host referred to the system which holds software or application which is trying to relay emails through your exchange server. You don't need to enable SMTP at host that run the software of Application. You can use that option if you don't want to relay emails to extranal domain from your exchange server You dont need any configuration at host.
