That is very odd I have a Pentium Dual Core 1.60 Ghz processor with 2 gig of DDR2 ram and 8500GT Nvidia 256 Graphics and Vista runs brilliantly on it, perhaps you should use the 64bit Version that will better or you can change what services you run with start-up too!It might be a hardware problem perhaps you need to reconfigure the bios to load optimum settings or you should get a professional to look at it as you might have missed something out as you built it your self I am also wondering how big your hard drive is or weather it was a cheap one, access speed is really important you should always buy the best you can afford especially if its huge like anything over 300 gigs should have at least a 16mb cache so all your info can be read faster by your hard drive. You can have all the top specs you want but if you have a slow hard drive no amount of CPU speed is going to help you!Your PC should be running fine though with your specs even with Areo turned on but apart from that have a look at Cnet they offer great advice regarding how to speed up vista and believe me it works wonders, but don't use any registry cleaners they are really dangerous except for Windows Live Safety Scanner which you can use but its still a beta for Vista and it can take ages!I hope I helped if not take it to a professional.http://speed-up-vista.classes.cnet.com/http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htmOh one more thing check your power settings there are three settings power saver, balanced and performance have a look at that too and use the performance setting you only loose one bar of power savings on performance settings and it increases your performance to the max, but don't use it if you over clock!

I have 74g that is 16mb for the c drive, vista it self is working pretty fast, but the other programs i used, such as PhotoshopCS3 and painterIX and etc. they are slow on the vista, like in the photoshop it takes like 15second to load a file, or create new file, and even while i am drawing, there is like freeze moment keep happing, i am guess this is something to do with the vista

Sorry I took so long to Awnser but I have been so busy this week!It sounds like a vista problem but not to worry I am sure there is a fix in SP1 that comes out at the middle of march, I tried the beta version and it has sorted most of my issues with the operating system out but I know people that have similar problems creating a new file and loading some third party programs so it won't be a hardware issue its definatly to do with software! You can also check out adobe to see if they have any updates for the offending software, updating software to newer versions often sorts out problems too unless you have to pay for it again or you have already done so ignore that.
