Safelist aggregation
I have an exchange 2007 server and I am considering using Safelist Aggregation to help with false positive spam issues. If i use Safelist when a user list an emai address as safe does this take effect domain wide or just for the user? Also the syntax for safelist only lists "[-Type <SafeSenders | SafeRecipients | Both>] ". What about the block lists in outloook spam, how do i include the rest of the spam settings? From the reading i have done it says that all of the lists are included in safelist but if it only allows those 2 type settings are the rest of the spam settings included. Thanks,Jim Thomas

Have you got an Edge server? As safe list aggregation is only available with Edge, and for me, that isn't a big enough feature to want to purchase another Exchange licence. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hello, Safelist Aggregation is also available on a Hub Transport Server with the anti-spam agents enabled. http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/security-message-hygiene/using-safelist-aggregation-part1.html http://www.exchangelog.info/2007/04/what-is-safelist-aggregation-in.html You can also see the behaviour on SBS 2008 and 2011. Hello, you can find more information here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125168(EXCHG.80).aspx - Safelist Aggregation is configured per user. - Don't worry about the syntax. Using another switch than SafeSenders is not recommended by Microsoft because in 2007 Safelist Aggregation only works with the safe senders list as described here: http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/bb125034(EXCHG.80).aspx Greetings, Toni

Just for that user (or any other user that also declares the same address to be a "safe sender"). Each entry in the ADAM directory has its own msExchSafeSendersHash, which is created from the information in the individual's mailbox. >Also the syntax for safelist only lists "[-Type <SafeSenders | SafeRecipients | Both>] ". I don't think that blocked senders are handled by safelist aggregation. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
