Searching a STM file
Is there a tool out there that I can open the Microsoft Exchange stm file to view the content and possibly search a string of text as well?

Just the stm file? Not really possible. the stm and edb together constitute the store. Why the need to just search the stm?

I agree with Andy. You shouldn't search just the STM. What are you trying to accomplish?Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

A few email messages were sent from 2 years ago and my collegue wants to search through the .stm file for record as it picked up a string search from the Windows search. I've already used the MFCMAPI in the SMTP mailbox and couldn't find anything.

You arent going to find anything of valuein the SMTP mailbox, unless you are troubleshooting a specific mailflow problem:http://blogs.technet.com/evand/archive/2004/12/27/332752.aspxExchange Special Mailboxes Part 3 - SMTP mailboxIf you are trying to find a message, you can search the store in total with exmerge if you know the subject or attachment:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246916XADM: How to Find Mailboxes That Contain a Specific MessageYou could also use 3rd party products such as from Quest or PowerControls, ( http://www.ontrackpowercontrols.com/solutions/exchange-email-search/)or other 3rd product products ( Or possibly your Exchange aware antivirus/content filtering software)
