Send&Recieve Error: 0x8004010f - couldn't find the object.
Hi guys,
having a serious problem in my domain since last week.
all domain users can't recieve any mails starting last thursday.
all getting the same error messege:
Error 0x8004010f: Operation failed, could not find the object.
deatils about my system:
Exchange Server 2010 is installed on the server-side
users using Outlook 2007 clients, on Windows 7.
after looking up the error code on the web, all pointed to problem with the offline address book.
i've tried to rebuild it using the ESM - Org' config - Mailbox - Offline Address Book - Update
after that i've restarted the Microsoft Exhcange File Distribution service -
but still no luck.
tried restarting the server itself.
tried creating a new OAB, setting in to default - still no luck.
Please advise guys -
i'm clueless
If you need anymore information, screenshots, etc. tell me
Thanks!.

This could be due to a non-working Autodiscover service. The OAB, OOF and Availability (free / busy) service depends on Autodiscover. Here are ways to it:
Exchange Autodiscover

Do you have issues communication with DC, DNS is working properly ?
Run netdiag
dcdiag and verify you are resolving the hostname for dc and other exchange servers.
check the srv record is their in dns for autdiscover.domain.com
Outupt the results to verify if issues is communication with DC and in result the OAB is not being updated.
June 5th, 2011 4:05pm
Please do the fallowing,
Turn off the Cache mode on the Outlook. Then Send and Receive and see if error is still there. If it's not there, definably problem with offline
address book.
Rebuild the address book and let client do download offline address book manually.

hey tom,
i'm not sure how to do what you suggested.
netdiag - says its not recognized command
dcdiag - i'm not sure how to use it propely. i'm having trouble with all the syntax
can you give me an example for running that test?
my dc called bistbash-srv1.bbnet.local
About the DNS - i'm not familiar with SRV records so much -
where should it be according to the picture? (DNS MANAGER WINDOW FROM DC)

I'm all new in this proffession, thanks for all who replied!

Hi,
According to
your tests, Outlook doesn’t work in Exchange online model.I think it not caused by OAB. What about the situation when you logged in OWA? If you can’t send/receive email via OWA.
I suggest you run Exchange BPA (Best Practices Analyzer) to test
the health and connectivity of all the Exchange server.
The EXBPA report will tell you how to solve the errors.

Update:
checked in the exchange server - C:\ drive had only 1.5GB free of 75GB
after cleaning it up a little - part of the problem was solved - now i do recieve new mails
and i'm able to send - but still when i hit "send\recieve" button - i'm still getting the
error message - 0x8004010f object could not be found.
and another question -
the folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\BBNET Mail
on my exchange server
stores all the log files, and takes up to 50GB
can i delete the oldest ones in order to free some space?
in that case what will happen - how it will affect the mail??
June 6th, 2011 2:14pm
you can move all logs older the checkpoint.
run eseutil /mk ".chk file path"
all logs older than that have been commited to databse can be moved away from logs drive. so you you can do on oldest first basis.
However it is recomended you MOVE them to other location so you can perform recovery in case you needed to. after incremental or full backup of exchange database logs should be automatically purged
Thank youDhruv

Does the command recognize the older checkpoint automaticlly?
and after i get the results - the first log and older than that can be deleted safely??
about the move - i'm planning ( after the irritating error message will disappear ) to create a new exchange server divided to 3 drives
system, logs, database
any idea how to move all of the data from the old one to the new one?
Thanks.
and about still getting the error ( altough mails are coming through ) - any ideas?
Thanks again
June 7th, 2011 12:36am
It seems it caused by the free space on the disk driver.
I suggest you running
Full Back up on Exchange server to remove Exchange Server
Transaction log files.
Use Windows Server Backup to Perform a Backup of Exchange
After backup, you’d better restart Exchange server.

logs, database

You could follow this article to move mailbox database and log files.

Any update on the issue?Gulab | MCITP: Exchange 2010-2007 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.blogspot.com

Sorry, no update at the moment.
In order to run full backup of the exchange server i need 160GB free space destination,
which i currently don't posses. plus we are on holiday vacation so i do everything remotely (using logmein)
which is kind a slow.
In the upcoming sunday there a 1TB external HD i need to get, and then i'll run the backup
and see if some space saved up on C: drive in the exchange server
and if the message disappears.
As for right now, the Outlook client can't connect to the exchange server for some reason.
just says "Disconnected, will re-establish connection when possible"
On Sunday i'll post all the updates.
Thanks all!!

i can send and recieve mail on my organization but when trying to manually download the OAB -

Any Ideas?
tried rebuilding (again) the OAB - still no luck.
now running the server full backup

Create new OAB and try.
Most of the time people spend lots of time resolving the issue. I would suggest to create new OAB and check the issue. Gulab | MCITP: Exchange 2010-2007 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah | Blog: www.ExchangeRanger.Blogspot.com

I know what it is.
I am hoping that you are downloading the full OAB!
Check if the OAB is getting update on Mailbox and CAS Server, cause that very important.

On Mailbox Server, the folder you will be looking for is "ExchangeOAB"
On CAS Server it's oab
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\ExchangeOAB (At this location you will see a GUID Folder E.g (ay3mf73439nfdfemj9e43n)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\CAS\oab (At this location you will see a GUID Folder E.g (ay3mf73439nfdfemj9e43n)

1st folder you mentioned, in mailbox server - exist with 3 GUID folders
the 2nd folder which supposed to be on my CAS server (which at my case my DC&DNS server) - doesn't exist.
program files there don't even has "microsoft" folder in in.
FULL OAB DOWNLOAD -
as i wrote - tried that, getting 0x80190194 error now
Thanks

CAS use Exchange File distribution to download OAB from Mailbox server.
So as default, the two folder should be with the same name.
And mailbox server should have only one folder.
