Sending email to a security group
We have a security group that is global and they want to receive email, what is the easiest way to implement that?Would I setup a new email contact and add the group as members or is there a better way?

you can mail enabled security groups. In Exchange 2007 you must make it a universal group then you can use the enable-distributiongroup cmdlet or use the EMC and enable the security group that way.If you are using Exchange 2003 you can leave it global if you want andthen just find the group in ADUC and run the Exchange Tasks to mail enabled the group

I went to ADUC and right mouse clicked the group and went to Exchange Tasks. After the wizard started the only options available to me were:- Delete Email Addresses- Hide Membership- Remove Exchange AttributesI didn't have the option of being able to mail-enable the group. Am I missing something. We are on Exchange Server 2003.

There is a email address there and it is not one that is recognized by our system, so if I setup a new email address for that group would I need to setup a complete mailbox in Active Directory first or not?

Hi Ken,
Do you mean you wanna change the email address for that group? Just choose delete email addressed and then right mouse clicked the group and go to Exchange Tasks to create a new name for it.
You dont need to create any new mailbox, distribution group can has a email address, but it doesnt have mailbox store. The email sent to the group address will be bifurcated to many copies to the recipients who have mailbox in the group.
Thanks,
Elvis
