Server-Side Rule Stops Processing
Twice now over the past week or two, I’ve had a problem with server-side rules failing to run on our Exchange 2007 server.
We use journaling with our archiving system, so every message to/from our organization is sent to a journaling mailbox. There’s a server-side rule on the mailbox
to forward all inbound messages to our archiving company and the delete them. Pretty straightforward.
Two weeks or so ago, the rule just stopped processing. Messages piled up in the inbox by the thousands. The fix was easy enough—I logged into OWA, deleted the
rule, and recreated it. Poof—it started working again. I was confused about why it happened, but didn’t give it much more thought.
Then yesterday, the rule stopped working again. Again, messages piled up in the inbox. Again, deleting and recreating the rule fixed the problem.
The fix is easy, but I shouldn't have to keep doing this. What could be going on?

Thanks for the tip! I've never played with Transport Rules, but from looking at that article they seem to be pretty straightforward. And from what I can tell, they would work fine for what we're doing.
