Set receipt request action without using Outlook
Is it possible to set a user to not reply to read requests without using Outlook? I am hoping for a script or other method.
We are on Exchange 2003. We have an account that is used like a service account to receive status messages when a rule is triggered in our IronPort device. The normal way to set this would be to log in as the user ab=nd set it with Outlook.
The problem is though that no one remembers the password for this account ( not good - I know).
I do not want to change the password because we are not sure that it is not being used somewhere else in the process.
If there is another way to set this I would sure be glad to know it.
Thanks in advance

Read Receipts are a client function. They shouldnt firing unless the client this service account is using is "open" somewhere and "reading" the messages.
If I wanted to get into another mailbox, I would simply give myself full mailbox access to it, then open it up and set what I needed.

Andy,
Thanks for the response. What is happening is that when a message is sent to this inbox with read recipt requested it is replying with a not read message.
I have full rights to the mailbox but if I open it from my outlook it changes my settings and not the other inbox.
Perhaps i could try configuring a different profile with that mailbox.

Well i was able to create a different profile and point it to that mailbox. I set it to never respond to read requests.
I will wait to see if this fixes the problem or not.
Thanks for kick starting my brain.
