Setting Custom Attribute for Federated Email box
Hi I'm trying to use EMS to set custom attribute 7 on our Federated Email address in Exchange 2010. This is so it is excluded from a dynamic distribution
group. I was able to perform this operation on our Discovery Search Mailbox but it acts like the alias is incorrect for the Federated box and I either cant or don’t know how to look at that mailbox in EMC. Any help would sure be appreciated.
This is the command I used that worked for my search mailbox.
set-mailbox "discover search mailbox" -customattribute7 NoEMail
Thanks!

What error message do you get? If you're being told that the alias is bad, then change it. Often organizations upgraded to Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 have "corrupted attributes" that weren't expressly illegal in Exchange 2003 or 2000, and
you have to do housekeeping to fix them.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

The error message I get it is that "The operation couldn't be performed because object 'Federated Email' couldn't be found on 'domain controller name'.
If I would change the alias to another alias that I know the command completes successfully. The problem is that I cannot find what the alias to the federated email box is. I can do a dump of all the mailboxes in our domain to a spreadsheet
using the command below but it does not appear in the list. I also can’t see it in EMC. I'm not sure if that is because its more of a system mailbox or I just don’t know where to look for it.
