My real issue is the Server was pre-installed with the operating system on it. I need to configure my exchange server to direct incoming and out going mail to mail.companyname.com. I am not sure when to begin, the exhange 2007 is already on the new server with some settings already on it but I am not sure what to change and how.

We just purchase a new server running Windows sbs 2008/Exchange 2007. We are starting from scratch only bringing the data files over from the old server (Windows SBS 2003) not the exchange (No Migration). The Server came pre-install with the operating system including Exchange 2007. When I was starting up the server it ask my some general questions about the network but nothing about the Exchange 2007. Now when I open up the Exchange Manger it has information in it and the store is running but it is not the correct information. In Exchange 2003 System manger under my exchange server name under protocols under smtp on the delivery tab for the advance delivery tab there is a place when I put my Fully-qualified domain name which is the Name of the Mail. ie. mail.companyname.com. I am trying to set-up the new server with e-mail going in and out of the server via my mail.companyname.com without opening up and relays. I am looking for any documents or assitances in setting up the exchange 2007 server but not from scratch becuase it is already running but not with what our e-mail server name. When I set-up the users in Active Users and Directories it does NOT have any E-mails options like in Windows 2003. Thanks

As it came with default so domain also will be different. Format everything and reinstall os and exchange according to your need. Thanks Amit Rawat

sorry, Exchange 2007 are different than Exchange 2003. You will have to read some documents from Microsoft technet library about Exchange 2007. For Exchange 2003, we create mailbox using ADUC. For Exchange 2007, we will use EMC or Exchange Shell Cmdlet to create mailbox. You will change default email address policy to reflect yourcompany.com domain. Set up MX record pointing to your Exchange server's Public IP address. Enable sending connector to Internet, etc...

You need reinstall a new exchange server 2007 and do a transition from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2007.
