Setting up Outlook 2007 using autodiscover points to old/wrong server
Good Day All, I have a strange situation. I hope I'm posting in the correct place. I HAD an exchange 2003 server that worked great for years. I have replaced this single server (exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 server), with 2 new servers. One CAS server (Exch. 2007/Std.-Win2k8/64-bit Std. on Both). I believe that I have correctly formatted all of the exchange URL's and once email is setup, everything works fine. I have installed a Comodo UC Certificate, also working properly and I have NO authentication issues whatsoever. I can contact all of my servers by name and IP. When I start to setup a new workstation, I install MS Office, no issues. Heres the issue: When I open outloo for the first time for ANY user's profile, outlook gives an error that the server cannot be contacted. I click OK and after a couple of errors, it will open a screeen asking for the server and the user's name. The servername is my OLD mail server that is no longer is service. This is not a major hassle as I just have to go to the mail config. and change it to the new server name and all works fine after that. My problem is that I would like the correct server name to come up and AUTOCONFIG based on the user name/domain. Ii am only using one domain and there is nothing out of the ordinary. When I run the command "Get-clientAccessServer | fl Name,AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri", the correct server information is displayed. I cannot figure out why this is. PLEASE HELP!! Very Annoying but again, not a major issue. I would just like to fix it and understand why this is happening.

What version of outlook are you using? Also by chance did you use or are using PRF files or a Office installation based off of the Office Customization Tool?Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

I am using Outlook 2007 Pofessional Plus. I believe we are using a version based off of the Customization tool. As far as I know, we are not using PRF based installation. I've been the Admin here for 7 years. What's up? And thank you for replying, BTW!

The Customizatin Tool might be hard-coding the server name. Have you tried to just do a plain installation off of the CD media?Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Hmmm, I did not think of that. I will try an off-media install and see what happens. Thanks for the lead. I'll let you know.

OK, TW, you were correct. I had setup a custom .msp file years ago and forgot about it. I've modified3 the .msp file so NO server name is included. Now the autodiscover service is correctly identifying and setting up my users. Thanks for the insight. I would probably never have looked at that.
