Setting up Rules in Exchange 2010
Hello All, Exchange is not my area of expertise, so please forgive if its a naive question. Could any of the Exchange gurus please let me know on how I can achieve this scenario: We need to setup a server side rule in which depending on "from" or To" or "cc" we need to add a copy of that mail to another Email ID. I.e. If UserA sends a mail to UserB or If "user B" sends a mail to "User C" but "User a" is cc'ed on the mail, then we need to copy (cc) this mail to another "user D" Pretty straight forward to apply this rule in Outlook, but can this rule be applied on the Exchange server as well? If yes then could you all please let me know what steps I need to follow to complete this ? As this is a bit urgent, would be really appreciate a quick response. Many Thanks,

Hi, You can enable Journaling for user A that will point to user D. Understand Journaling : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123817.aspx & how to enable it : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123817.aspx, 2007 article more over same for 2010 : http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/06/22/444296.aspxRipu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging | MCC

Hi Ripu, Thank you for your answer. I will go through what Journaling means with respect to Exchange. In the meanwhile I was going through the Exchange console and found some articles around creating a new Transport rule (Organizational Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Transport Rules tab). This also gives us the same screen what would generally come when we try to set the client driven rules in Outlook. I am yet to test this, but do you think this is the right way forward or is this Transport Rules determine something else? Many Thanks,

Hi, I think transport rule will be a better way to achieve your goal. It is more efficient than journal mailbox for your scenario. Thanks Serena for a quick reply. I believe these rules (Transport rule) are driven at the server end and not at the client end? Doesnt need outlook to be opened right? Just confirming? Many Thanks,

Hi, Yep, the transport rules are driven at the server side. And here are some good articles for you.
