SharePoint 2010 & Exchange 2010 Same Server
right i am aware this is against best practice blar blar blar..... 2 servers serv1 - Domain Controller, DNS, DHCP access - SharePoint 2010, Office Web Apps, ForeFront Protection 2010 for SharePoint right i need to add Exchange 2010 and ForeFront Protection 2010 for Exchange onto the access server, as I said I am aware this is not a best practice and will not work out of the box, but i am also told that it is do able, but i cannot find how. please can you provide a step by step guide of how to get this working. reasons for doing this only 2 servers only 1 external IP only need 1 SSL cert (free from statssl) thank you for your helpThanks From Joe

Can you virtualize the Exchange Server instead? Not only is this not a best practice as you have stated , I suspect at some point, the entire thing will break either from resource constraints, and update or service pack etc...

The problems i face are these. ideally the client wants a single sub domain namely access.hi-vis.org (the sharepoint site is there, permssions not yet set for sub sites) each sub site in just a folder, i.e. /committee or /DataSafe only one external IP, SharePoint will be holding data sanctioned by the dreaded data protection act and as such the client want SSL for that, exchange also like to be run over SSL and i fell this is best practice to do so, if both could run under "default web site" then this would be easy, with owa living at access.hi-vis.org/webmail. Possible Solution is there a way to mask the path, so that: mail.hi-vis.org/owa appears in the address bar as access.hi-vis.org/webmail and access.hi-vis.org/webmail also opens OWA. this would fix the path issue, and if both access and mail have the same SSL cert mapped to their respective "default web site" i assume this would not present an issue with SSL or i saw somebody on the internet suggesting small business server but i do not know if this fixes the problem or not... thank you for your help,Thanks From Joe
