Really dumb question, I know ... Hope you are ready: What are the differences between WSS V2 (SPS 2003) and MS Exchange 2003? We are looking for something better then a simple webmail. However, we have to be able to * share multiple calendars (would be very nice to be able to host a calendar that can also be made public, like caledarwiz.com offers) * have total of 60-100 mailboxes, at least 50 of those need to be accessible via web & have at least 100mb/mailbox (highly preferred 1GB/mailbox),the rest canbe on pop3 with min 25MB per mailbox *sharing documents (MS Excel, Word, PDF, etc) is very important. * linkto documents from email messages - say, I want my employees to see an excel report, instead of emailing it as an attachment, I would simply email a link to it. Also,if that report is changed, they would also be able to reference to it in the future. (preferred not a must feature). Is this called, MS Office integration? * have to have MS Outlook 2003 synchronization, including email messages & calendar) for ALL mailboxes I have read on a number of sharepoint sites that they would also host my website's email address as well. In other words, I would simply ask my existing website's host to "forward C-names" (or something like that) & I could receive my emails through their sharepoint services. So, I just have no idea why there is a need for such an expensive MS Exchange. I know I am not getting something please help. Lastly, would you recommend any reliable sharepoint or ms exchange service.Email reliability is extremely crucial - 100% of our livelihood depends on it. If this is the wrong forum, I apologies. Sharepoint is for colaboration, not e-mail. You can build team websites, document storage areas, Intranets, etc. Anyone that is offering you e-mail with Sharepoint is most likely using a different product, even if it is just Windows 2003 with e-mail turned on. Microsoft Exchange is an e-mail platform. It is NOT for websites, and should not be used for document storage (even though most users have gigs of documents in their e-mail). If you were hosting internally, and on a budget, you could go with Exchange for e-mail, and free sharepoint setup. <shrug> hope this helps.
