Sharepoint 2007 incoming email enabled with Exchange 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2003 SP2
Hi, I am not too sure this whether be a Sharepoint or Exchange question. But I will just give it a try here. We are in progress migrate off Exchange 2003 to 2010. The EX2003 server was setup to work with a Sharepoint 2007 web server with incoming email enabled. It was working fine. After I moved user mailbox onto Exchange 2010, they start to complain no longer able to send emails to the Sharepoint library. I then checked Exchange 2010 settings. - New Send Connector is created, to forward emails to the Sharepoint web server for domain sharepointwebsvr.contoso.int - New Accepted Internal Relay address is added in Exchange 2010 - On the Sharepoint Web server SMTP service relay settings, the new Exchange 2010 server is added as a allowed server. - I notice when user sent emails from Exchange 2010 to the Sharepoint server, the email actually is appeared at the Sharepoint server in its C:\inetpub\mailroot\Drop folder! it's stay there for a few seconds then disappears.... I then went to the library there was nothing there! - Checked Sharepoint Central Admin, safe email servers is set to "accept from all email servers" - Exchange 2003 users are still able to send emails to the library without any issues... Not sure what I have missed here?

I assume message tracking shows it was delivered to the Sharepoint server. If so then I would ask this in the Sharepoint Forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/sharepoint/

OK, find out why. The issue is somehow Exchange 2010 related. It is because the email address we use for the Sharepoint library is too long! The name we use contain 24 characters e.g.averyverylongemailaddressname@sharepointsvr.contoso.int. After we shorten it to 15 characters, the attachments of the emails are shown up in the library! Before we short the email address. From the tests we have done, we can see Sharepoint can receive the emails. But not the attachments. So I suspect for some reasons Exchange 2010 uses email address to rename its attachments. This cause the attachments name become too long for Sharepoint and therefore drop the message attachments. Not sure anyone have seen this before... Does my guess make any sense?
