Sharepoint email alerts to external email addresses
I have having problem getting alerts to external email addresses. External users have AD accounts with the external email addresses for the account. When the outgoing email server is set to our older Exchange 2003 server, email works fine, When changed to the Exchange 2007, it does not. Already followed the followed many articles on setting up recipient and sender connectors in Exchange 2007 with the ip address of my Moss 2007 server as allowed servers to relay but still does not work. Alerts only work for internal users. Use telnet testing with no problem for the exch 2003 server when I use rcpt to: xxxxx@comcast.net where xxxxx is the external address Doing the same for exchange 2007 i get a 550 5.7.1 unable to relay. Must be doing something wrong in exch 2007 config

Is the domain part of the From: address of the Sharepoint emails one of your authoritative accepted domains? If not, then Exchange is going to see email the ones to external recipients as a relay attempt. It sounds like the Exchange 2003 server is set up to allow relay for the Sharepoint emails, and the 2007 server is not.

Hi, Please refer to the below article to confirm the relay email: Allowing application servers to relay off Exchange Server 2007http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/12/28/432013.aspx Thanks Allen
