Simplify OWA URL
Hello Experts,
I've installed and configured an exchange server 2007 on test environment. I've 2 Domain Controllers ( DC1 and DC2). My concern is to simplify OWA user URL. Presently I'm accessing mailbox by default URL (https://localhost/owa)
I want to configure it as https://testlab
Please any advice.
Thanks.

Hi Samir,
You cannot have an owa link as you said (https://testlab)
To simplify this you can create a new CNAME record for your CAS server.
CNAME like "mail", "webmail" then your owa url would be https://mail.yourdomain.com/owa
hope this helps. Thanks & Regards, Kottees R

The URL is made up of two parts.
The host.example.com bit is simply a DNS entry that you need to make in your local DNS if this is a lab, so that it resolves to the server. If you want to avoid errors then you will need an SSL certificate issued to host.example.com.
The /owa part you cannot remove, the only thing that you can do is put in a redirect so if someone hits host.example.com they are redirected to host.example.com/owa
If you are using Windows 2008/2008 R2 as the host then you need to use HTML to do that:
http://exchange.sembee.info/2007/cas/default-page.asp

Hello Experts,
Thank you guys for your replies.
Anyway I managed to get that I can now access my mailbox through url
https://testlabmail It automitcally redirects me to
https://testlabmail/owa
Below are some steps whic you need to perform (as reference for others) :
a. Create a host record (testlabmail) pointing to your exchange server ip
b. Start IIS > Right Click on Default Website>Click on Home Directory Tab>Click on a redirection URL. Here specify the directory /owa. Check mark the box A directory below URL entered> Apply>Restart IIS.
Thanks once again.

That method can actually break other parts of Exchange so shouldn't be used. The HTML file is what should be used as it doesn't interfere with the operation of Exchange.
