Some mails stuck with OWA (Exchange 2003)
Hi
We are facing a very strange issue for last few days. in OWA while opening some mails from an external user IE hangs or it takes a very long time to open / reply / forward. We tried with both IE 7 & IE 8. This is happening only for this external
domain user, other mails are working fine. We have Exchange 2003 configured with 2 BE and 2 FE servers . We tested this both internally and externally and facing same issue. But with firefox it works fine. Shall anyone help us to resolve the issue
Thanks in advance

Please describe the message type from the external sender
Have the mail access ever worked for this external sender before?
Does the issue only happen to a specific recipient in your organization?
Please compare the message header between the problematic message and the working message in the outlook, see if there’s any difference
Please check if there’s any error event in the application log on the exchange servers after you reproduce the issue
Please check if there’s any related error trace in the IIS log on the FE servers after you reproduce the issue
Please raise the diagnostic logging level on the following categories, reproduce the issue, and then see if there’s any related error event in the application
log (KB 246248)

Hi James
This issue is happening only with one external sender mail and when we tested with Win 7 / IE 8 this mail is working fine, but not with Vista/IE8 & Windows 2003 IE8. It was working fine before and the external user is using Outlook 2007. We didn't find
anything problematic with the headers. Also with Exchange FE & BE servers there is no error messages related to this and will follow the article to change the log level.

So you have performed a lot of tests. Based on your test results, the possible cause is related on the client OS. Please do the general troubleshooting
steps on the problematic windows Vista:
·
Disable UAC mode (Reference)
·
Disable the “Enable Protected Mode” in the IE8
·
Reset all the settings in the IE8Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
