Split domain technology
Hello,
Some Exchange hosting companies suggest such a servise as split domain exchange hosting. I.e. this is a possibility for customer to have part of his/her mailboxes on one server (for example POP mailboxes) and another part could be on other server (MS Exchange).
MX record points to the server with POP mailboxes andon that serverthere is redirect to MS Exchange server for only those mailboxes that need it.
Could you tell me, is this ordinary and standard use of Exchange Server?
If yes, where I could read aboutthis featurein detail?
If no, what it could be?
I'm new to MS Exchange using
Thank you in advance!

POP3 is just a setting on the actual mailbox as a method of accessing mail, it's not a separate mailbox soonly way you coulddo this would be to have 2 separate mailboxes for someone (which would then require2 separate addressses).......wouldn't really make much sense I don't think....
cheers

Hi,
Exchange Server is like a email center. All email inbound or outbound will use Exchangeserver toroute and transport. That is the administrator should to manage.
For user thereare user mailboxes on the Exchange server, butuser can notretrievetheiremails directly, they need client access tool to download orfind their mailbox which is on Exchange Server.
We can use pop3, IMAP4, MAPI, Outlook WebAccess, Exchange ActiveSync or Unified Messaging to access mailbox on Exchange Server.
I ama little confused about your post, if there's one account on the Exchange Server, then the mailbox for that account will be connectedto that server, but can not be located on different Exchange Server.
I would share you some information on Exchange deployment.
