I have some doubt about the TLS authentication. Is there the possibility of not receiving emails with TLS is not working on my Exchange Server due certificate? The Certificate name of my Server FQDN needs to be a public DNS name or it could be something like mydomain.local ? 

If I setup pop3 authentication with "Basic Authentication", it will use SSL? If I'm not using SSL, it would send my password anyway or the server would reject it?

For your questions, there is the possibility of being unable to receive emails which is resulted from Exchange certificate issue which caused TLS not working.

The certificate name depends on which services this certificate is for.

If you set up POP3 authentication with Basic Authenticate, you can also configure SSL to it.

Not using SSL is not recommend since if the alternative Exchange server you are connecting to requires SSL and this is most of the Exchange will do, then there will be error message popping out.
