Time Frame for Exchange System Migration
Hi, OK, here's our scenario. We currently have Exchange server 2003 running on a Windows Server 2000 machine. Our network has approximately 150 users, about 50 mailboxes are over 1gb in size, 10 of those are between 4gb and 9gb. We are migrating over to Exchange 2007 on a Windows Server 2003 x64 machine. However, there is a corruption in the 2003 exchange database, and therefore we need to export all of the mailboxes to PST files using xmerge, and then when we get the 2007 exchange server we need to migrate them back into the exchange databse. We have two technicians on hand to complete this job, how long would you estimate this would take with 2 technicians working?

Hi, I don't know how long it will take but why do you have to export to pst files - this won't help the corruption situation. You know that pst files created by exmerge have a maximum size of 2Gb so it makes it harder to export the mailboxes. If youuse the move mailbox wizard you can configure this to stop a mailbox move if too many errors are detected (most mailboxes will probably be moved without any problems). If you are then down to a couple of mailboxes with many problems you could try to repair the database and then hopefully you can move the rest of the mailboxes. Leif
