Topology Service request fails
The topology service on my Mailbox/Hub transport server runs without apparent error. However the Edge transport server reports an error 2152, MSExchangeADAccess error "An RPC request to the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service failed with error 1753 (Error 6d9 from HrGetServersForRole). " There is no such service on the ET server, and I can't tell from the logs whether it failed to install or not. The following are repeated a few times in the log:

I suspect that off-site email is not getting out of the queues due to the first error from the event log. ANy ideas, thoughts, or fixes?
thx

Are there any [ERROR] entries in the log file?

I had the same exact problem on my Edge server.
I had installed Security Configuration Wizard, created and applied the policyand then read that it is not supported with E2K7 Beta 2. :) So I rolled back the SCW security policy and discovered that Edge synchronization doesn't work evenafter that(Windows Firewall retained list of the ports from the policy template and was blocking all others). There was error 2152 reported on Edge server's Application Log: "An RPC request to the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service failed with error 1753 (Error 6d9 from HrGetServersForRole)."
According to description and help files, necessary ports to open for ADAM on the Edge, are 50389 TCP and 50636 UDP (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/E2k7Help/56211f98-950f-4df3-9db3-1742e065eed9.mspx?mfr=true). This lastseemed suspicious to me(how SSL session can use UDP only?), so I also opened 50636 TCP, and then Edge synchronization started working normally, no more errors. I could see 50636 TCP connections established from Hub to Edge server during the Edge sync.

I seem to be experiencing the same problems on my edge server.
Unfortunately, i'm not using the Windows Firewall (or any firewall in between the servers), so all ports should be open and accessible.
Are there any other reasons for the requests to fail? I've been looking through all forums and such for days now, without a usuable answer.
