Hello, I didn't know what forum this question should go in so i decided to put it here. Please move it to the proper forum though.Okay, I want to become (I think its called this) A systems engineer. Just to make sure is a systems engineer one of those people that goes around Offices, Businesses and Schools maintaining networks, disaster planning and that sort of thing? If not then what is it?- Cheers, Daniel

You right, its called a systems engineer or consultant - my advice to you is this, start at the bottom, as an attachment to a reasonably established or large systems integrator. Learn the hardware, the desktop operating systems and applications - try to understand how they work and why they work that way, best practices etc. No matter what, you need to gain a basic understanding and base of knowledge which you will get from this. Look into doing Comptia A+ and Network+ courses then exams to start Once you have a good grasp of knowledge in this field you can start looking to move into being a junior systems engineer, running around doing basic deployments, troubleshooting and support. You can now look at doing some MS Training courses & Exams - be sure to sit through the training and have good working knowledge of the products you are certifying in since this is what differentiates a good certified individual who is worth their time and wages from a poor to average Jo whose just doing his job. Not the right forum - but what the hek, you deserve an answer! Wish you all the best.
