Transaction Logs growing rapidly
Hi I have an exchange 2007 SP2 environment. I used exmon to determine it was 1 user that seemed to be using high CPU i moved him to a new Storage group to clean any possible corruption. the transaction logs was generating a new one every second. I then removed him from the blackberry server and the logs stopped generating transaaction logs. When i add him back in it starts all over again. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue??

Possibly a mail loop. Do you allow automatic forwards or replies to the Internet? Disable those and see if the problem stops.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Thanks Ed for the quick response. Allow automatic replies and allow automatic forwards are not checked. Under Hub Transport in the Organization Config is there anyways i can test for a mail flow loop? from this paticular user?

One log file per second translates to 60 MB / minute, or 3.6 GB / hr. To see if you have one mailbox responsible for all this, you'll have to figure out which one is growing.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi, - check out if the service pack was correctly applied (ExchangeSetup.log) - check out if the cdo.dll versions on the exchange server and the BES are matching: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB04912 - consider updating to SP3. Regards, MarkusMCSE:Messaging

Hi, so we have determined the 1 user with the problem and i have talked to blackberry support and have determined it may be a corrupted calendar item. How will i be able to determine which calendar item is corrupted?

now to add a little twist to this. I have already moved this user to a new storage group. I archived all of t his users mailbox anything older than 5/26/2012 to a pst file so now he only has 146 calendar items instead of 6400 calendar items. I used the microsoft tool to check for potential bad calendar items which it found 1 and i deleted it and it is now clean. Once i add the user back to the blackberry server just adding the user not activating him. Once he is added the logs start generating multiple logs per second. it will create about 15-20 logs per second very fast...

There are few things which i can suggest keeping in mind that you have issues with only one users. Ensure user is having the Latest Build of the Blackberry OS. if not pls upgrade it. Also let me know, what is the BES version are you using. Regards, AshwiniKnow more about Messaging :-)

i am using bes 5.02 and i don't think it has anything to do with the device because i haven't even assigned it to a device. Once i add the user to the BES server before i acticate it i notice the logs start generating like crazy

is this the first user you are going to Add to the BES Server or you already have many users part of BES infrastructure ? Regards, Ashwini Know more about Messaging :-)

we have 89 users on this bes server. the problem seems to be resolved. I archived all of his calendar items to a pst file and delted all of his calendar items from his mailbox. I added him to the bes logs grew at a normal rate. I activated his berry the logs grow a bit fast which is normal during activation especially for his 5GB mailbox. after it was activated logs settled down. I re-imported 1 year of calendar items back...and nothing has generated the logs that quickly. i am not doing a full backup hoping it clears the logs now...in a few hours when the backup finishes. thank you everyone for your help...
