Trouble Installing E2K7 SP1 Rollup 8 on SBS 2008
Just like the title says. I am having trouble installing Rollup 8 for Exchange 2007 SP1 on my SBS 2008 server. SBS 2008 is a 64 bit edition patched up to SP2. It fails out as it begins "stopping services" and says the the installation has ended prematurely. I have already applied previous rollups 4 and 7 but no interim updates. UpdateOwa.log and ServiceControl.log are both untouched since the Rollup 7 update in April. I have the verbose log from the install but can not isolate where or why this install is failing. Error in Event Viewer is very generic: Product: Microsoft Exchange Server - Update 'Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (KB968012) 8.1.375.2' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if there is a way to upload this 40MB log file to the thread in case someone wants to look at that.

HI, In this case you must enable verbose MSI logging. Please try below command and change your file name in correct place.Filename.msp /lxv* c:\SP1UR8.logthen you can see SP1UR8.log on the drive c: .Then you can open this log file and see every step of update process. I suggest you to repost this matter on Exchange Software Updates forum. Also please refer below blog post of Amit tank.ResourceExchange Update Rollup Installation. It is notNightmare!!!Regards Chinthaka
