When i try to add a Database to a newly created RSG the search results does not list my IS database, the search results is blank, what would cause this? This is a 2 node cluster, using Exchange 2003 enterprise.

is the database you added to the RSG mounted? What search results are you speaking of? What are the exact commands you are entering? What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Troy Werelius

When i right-click on the Recover Storage Group, then click Add Database to Recover, when the Select database to recover window appears the Search Results displays "No items match the current search", normaly i would see the name if my Mailbox Store, but
the results field is empty. Is there a different way to add the database?
Thanks

Just to ensure we are in sync are you following the steps outlined here? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126 Troy Werelius

The steps for creating a RSG are vey straigh forward as discribed in the KB article, if it is helpful here is the location of the transaction logs for the RSG, R:\EXCHSRVR\Recovery Storage Group. I get as far as step 7 in the
Create a Recovery Storage Group
but In the "Select database to recover dialog box" my mailbox store is not listed.

Ok, so just out of curiosity and clarity;
is this happening when you are creating the RSG and attempting to point to the Live Storage or the offline database you restored?
Nothing odd happening regarding error or warning events? Have you tried the magical 3 finger salute aka reboot to see if it resolves the issue. Total SWAG I know but I have seen resource issues cause some pretty strange things that a reboot resolves.
On a side note if you want to check out a cool 3rd party tool to replace and go beyond RSG capabilities check out Lucid8's DigiScope

This problem has been solved, the cause was a hardware issue with the passive node.
After working with Microsoft Support for about 3 hours, they are tenacious, i decided to reboot the Active node. During my conversation with MSS i tried failing over to the passive node, but it didn't work, i haven't had a problem in the pass, i probably
did this a couple of months ago during patching. I saw the hardware problem when i tried to move the Group whille logged into the Passive node, the failure pointed to the Data service. These are Dell PE 2850 with shared attach storage for both nodes. Array
manager showed lost communication with the array from where i was logged in, but the array showed all green lights, and so did the servers, however the heartbeat light on the scsi card in the array attached to the Passive node was lights out!
I had to do a force, (hit the power button on the stuck active node) it whouldn't shut down, then did a normal shutdown of the Passive node. When everything come back up the problem node could see the array again, but the heartbeat light is still out.
I was then able to add a database to the RSG i was trying to make.
I've since done the fail over a few times without any problems, and i was successfull in doing the restore of the mailbox strore, and recovered my lost email.
I've had problems with the scsi card in that one server before, (replaced it), but it had been fine for about 2 years, and i did a restore a while back without any problems. I now know i have an issue, that i am not looking forward to debugging, especially
if i have to take down the array.
I only call MS when i absolutely have to, maybe about 5 or 6 times in the last 10 years, and since i hadn't used my complementary support issues with my technet subscription, why not! They are very good, and well trained, don't hesitate to use them, they
take ownership of your problem.
thanks
