Trouble removing HUB role on server
I have a server that was set up with HUB/CA/MBX roles (SERVER-A). I want to break out the HUB/CA to a stand alone server (SERVER-B). I have created the standalone server, and would like to now remove the HUB/CA from SERVER-A, but the check boxes for HUB and CA are grayed out on the setup screen. The Mailbox Role is checked and not grayed out. Is there something I am missing? I have been unable to find a tech document outlining why I would not be able to remove those roles. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, CW

Hi, Try to Install the HUB and CAS roles on ServerB first (I assume that Server A and Server B are in the same AD site) then try to uninstall the HUB and CAS roles from Server A Good LuckIbrahim Al Masry http://www.ibra.me/

I appreciate your comments Ibrahim, that in fact, was the first steps I did. I have SERVER-B up and running with Hub/CA, but the options are still grayed out. I may move the mailboxes on SERVER-A to another server, and try to remove SERVER-A from the organization completely. But I am open to other suggestions! Thanks, CW

Assuming you have transferred all settings ( Hub/Cas) to server B , can you stop Hub / CAS services run exbpa etc to check whether mail flow is normal.

Hello I agree with ibrahim you need to first install the CAS and Hub role on seperate server bcoz the mailbox server role is dependent on cas role. after installing the CAS and HUB role specify RPC client access Attribute and set-rpcclientaccess server to new one. In exchange 2010 outlook users are connected to Client access Server. please check the documentation before removing the CAS and hub server role. Thanks MHussain Thanks Mhussain

I'm not sure that is the actual answer for my case. I am running Exchange 2007, and I apologize for not mentioning that in my first post. From what I can see, the "set-rpcclientaccess" command is an Exchange 2010 command.
