Troubleshoot: usb.sys - for xp home Service Pack 2
I have a problem using some hardware such as my scanner and USB wireless bluetooth mouse etc. when i install all the official device software for them of the manufacturers site, then the 'new harware found' bubble shows at the bottom. after a few second, a window appears saying how i need to insert my XP Home Service Pack 2 disc to get a file called 'usb.sys'; which when i put in the disc, it can't find it.Hoping someone can help me, wether its giving me a direct link to download this specific file or just help me! to be honest its like annoying for buying new hardware since i only have 1 Ps2 connection and im currently havin to switch leads with the USB>Ps2 connection.

I'm having the same problem. I have 4 usb ports at the back of pc and 2 on the front. My Fuji digital camera works fine and all software fine, my sony ericsson mobile phone - all fine, my old HP deskjet printer - all fine and then......I buy a new Canon scanner/printer/copier (all in one job) yesterday - I install the software and once I turn the printer on up pops a screen that asks me to insert my Windows XP CD etc etc....well the great thing is I bought my pc and the Windows OS was version 1 and I have since downloaded SP2.......and I never got a disk with it. What am I supposed to do? Bak99 (thread above) has the disk and no joy - I don't have the disk, no joy - what's the solution Microsoft? I'd have thought you'd have a thread or a quickfix link to this all over your download section etc etc - I guessed wrong
