Trying to add Exchange Licenses
I logged into my 2003 Exchange server and went into Admin Tools > Licensing (btw I am a member Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, Exchange Domain Admin, Server Admin, Schema Admin... etc) I noticed that all our Exchange users are listed in the clients screen as 0 for licensed usage and 1 for unlicensed usage. So I thought that I could just add my 205 Exhange cals that I've purchased by clicking on New License and adding the Exchange 2003 licenses, I accept the agreement and I get this message stating that You do not have appropriate access priviledges to complete this operation. At first I thought it was because I was remoting in, but I went to the server console and got the same message. What am I missing here?

Is this SBS? Generally there is no need to add client licenses to the server. In fact, many recommend disabling the license service on your servers. ( The Licensing service goes away after 2003).Note this KB:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;883399How to reset the License Logging service in Windows Server 2003http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824196/Description of the License Logging Service in Windows Server operating systemsIf this is SBS, then do not disable the licensing service. You may want to ask this then in the SBS newsgroups:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sbs/bb839595.aspx

Unlikely to be SBS with "205 Exchange cals." SBS 2003 / 2008 is designed specifically for businesses with 75 or fewer PCs or users. Also SBS uses a different type of CALs than the standard Microsoft products. The SBS CALs cover access to all the technologies included with SBS: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL Server ...http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/prodinfo.mspx MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist
