Here's another thread on what appears to be the same issue. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/ca31af78-d31d-435d-be9b-9207f5b5c6e6 Do you happen to have any C4?[string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "

From reading the microsoft support article I gather I shouldnt have deleted the offline address book a few hours ago? Would that be the cause? Really I just want to unjoin this from the domain and take if off their network.++++++++++++++++++++ Jessica Moyer Twitter @luv2geek "Getting information off the Internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant." -Mitchell Kapor "Do you realize if it weren't for Edison we'd be watching TV by candlelight? Thanks the link mjolinor! I noticed a mention of ADSI edit and looking under configurations and I do see that Exchange is still there.. So I guess that means I can not simple unjoin and remove the old server yet.. You can always delete the server object from under the configuration container via adsiedit.msc again ( and them remove the server from the domain) Not supported, but since you are simply trying to remove the server, that would work. Note that this will leave pieces of Exchange in AD which could come back to haunt you if Exchange is ever reinstalled in the org again. I wouldnt delete the entire Exchange services tree under the config container however.

This looks like a hub transport role, so removing the OAB shouldnt affect the ability to remove the server. I suspect its hanging on something else.
